Robots were placing chicken breasts into trays and doing other tasks that required dexterity and a gentle touch. They were doing much more than loading pallets with boxes, too. This Pack Expo had more robots and cobots – collaborative robots that can work in close contact with humans – than I had ever seen. A few years ago, I had a robot make a cup of coffee for me. Automation has always been a big part of trade shows. What’s more, if a processor is going to be making a substantial investment in a new piece of equipment, they’re going to want to see it in-person before putting down the money.įinally, and most importantly, Pack Expo 2021 saw the rise of robotics. However, there is still something about face-to-face interaction that can’t be replicated by a virtual event. Technology has improved dramatically in a short time to help make these virtual events work well, and valuable information is still valuable if it’s relayed via a webcam. The last two years have seen many virtual conferences and trade shows. More than 22,000 attendees registered for the show, in spite of all the uncertainty and issues around traveling. I saw that at the wildly successful AAMP show, and I saw it again at Pack Expo. The second takeaway was that the industry is starving for face-to-face interaction. My normal activity level is just slightly above “comatose,” so if I can walk 10,000 steps in a day with a mask and not drop dead from the exertion, than the supposed dangers of mask-wearing may be overblown. Frankly, I’m a middle-aged guy with pandemic poundage, working at a job that requires me to be in front of a computer most of the day. Meetings were held, purchases were made, hands were shook, fists were bumped, and practically all of it was done with masks. Of the 20,000+ people in the Las Vegas Convention Center, the overwhelming majority – above 99% – were wearing masks to comply with the city’s policy. The first one was that mask mandates work. There were a few takeaways from the show. So as a result, I had to load up on masks in order to walk the numerous aisles of Pack Expo Las Vegas this week. Mask mandates are back, at least in some cities and states. In this situation, start from scratch and trying the aforementioned tips. The last trade show I attended – the annual American Association of Meat Processors convention – was in that marvelous but brief moment of time after the COVID cases started to drop but before the Delta variant took over the country. This idea is a step backward as it is not catchy, easily pronounceable, or memorable. Avoid a bad combination of words for the sake of creating a unique name: One of the mistakes venture owners make is developing bad word combinations when they confirm that their business name idea has already been taken.Your business name should intend to stop a customer in their tracks and give extra thought to your product among your wave of competitors. Using rhythmic pronunciation or alliteration (Smart Systems, Ambitious Automation) can go a long way! Though it is a task that’s easier said than done. Make it a Memorable One: If you can create a memorable business name, then you have succeeded in the first step of getting into your customer’s mind. For instance, “Smart Systems” depicts that the business focuses on providing automated systems that run more efficiently and intuitively than others.

Using a word that wouldn’t be irrelevant when out of context also works in situations like this. Ensure to name your business in a way that has a story behind it. A more effective business name should convey to customers your business and product values at a deeper level. Do not Describe it: A typical pitfall most businesses run into is describing their business name too literally, using overused automation terms like automatic, smart, or system.Who does it best? Why does it work and how can I produce a better name? When doing this, think about: What product values are they conveying in their business name? How does that work for them? Is there a trend in how these businesses are naming themselves? It’s best to avoid sounding like “just another one of those businesses”. Analyse your Competitors: Doing a competitor analysis as your first step will save you a lot of time in the future, knowing what names to avoid and understanding why and how your competitor’s business name works for them will help you in forming your business names. Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind when developing your automation business names.
